Densities in the Refrigerator

Olive Oil- .80-.90 g/mL

Soy Sauce- 1.077 g/mL

Honey- 1.36 g/mL

In a situation where honey, olive oil, and soy sauce are all in one container, the olive oil would be at the top of the mixture while the soy sauce stays in between the honey and oil. I believe this because according to my research, honey is the most dense out of all of the three, therefore putting it on the bottom. The soy sauce comes next, and then the olive oil as the upper layer. I think in addition to the density, the temperature of the refrigerator could also be a potential factor in the layering of the substances.  Below, I tried to model this in water.

BP Oil Spill Reaction

After reading the article "BP Gulf Coast Oil Spill: One Year Later", I analyzed the effectiveness of BP's effort and work on cleaning their mess up. According to the article, "personell for cleanup grew to 47,000 at its peak."In addition to this, they manned around 9,700 clean-up vessells, depositing more than 1million gallons of dispersant. I believe overall, BP did as good a job that they could given this sudden problem. Much money was put into this clean-up of the coast and almost a year later, the gulf is "deep blue again."

Journal #1

Coming back to the highschool as a Sophomore is very exciting yet at the same time a bit intimidating. In addition to this we have a new attendance policy. This policy in my opinon is pretty harsh but we'll get through the year. Some things I would like to accomplish this year is really focusing on my schoolwork, and trying my best in science. I had a pretty bad track record in science last year so I really hope to improve that. Also, I look forward to learing about Cornell notes. I've heard from friends who did it last year and apparently it really gets the information in your head. Overall, I think that this year can really be a good year academically and I look forward to trying my hardest.
