Linsanity and College Admissions

If I were to conduct a study on college discrimination against Asian American students, I'd simply separate  several races and analyze their statistics regarding college admissions. For example, Caucasian: 13%, Asian American: 14%, and so on. I believe this would be a simple, yet effective way to see how Asian Americans are treated during the admission process. To dig a bit deeper and evaluate whether or not there is discrimination among the admissions, I would maybe interview different colleges and see what their opinons on the matter would be, like Jonathan Zimmerman as he looked into Harvard officials' response to the notion that Asian American students are discriminated against.

In part, I do agree with the results promoted in the article. However, I dont necessarily agree with the stereotype given to Asian Americans. Yes, a majority of Asian Americans that I know are studious, but certainly not quiet. Giving the stereotype of a quiet, shy person almost seems a bit degrading, since it implies they have little say in what goes on.. Of course, that isn't to say that I think being quiet and shy are bad qualities in a person. Sometimes being quiet is the most praised aspect of a person. Regardless, I believe that the fact that "Asian Americans need SAT scores ranging from 140 points higher than white students" is a bit ridiculous. It may be true, but in the end I find it to be unjust. Everyone, regardless of what they excel in, should have equal treatment when it comes to college admissions.
